Watercolor Wedding Guest Portraits
Did you know I offer guest portraits as one of my live painting services? When it comes to wowing your audience on your wedding day or at your next event, these portraits are a massive hit. Not only are they a fun way to engage your guests in an interesting activity while they wait for the line at the bar to dwindle, but they actually make a great keepsake for everyone who poses for their portrait.
Here’s how it works:
Step 1: At a table where guests may feel free to approach me, I’ll take a photo of them in their attire.
Step 2: While guests are dancing, dining, and mingling, I’ll be working diligently on painting their likenesses in my signature water color style. My focus is on capturing the details of dresses, suits, accessories, etc., while working quickly so I can paint as many portraits as possible in the amount of time allotted.
Step 3: Each completed portrait is displayed on the table to be collected by its respective guest at the end of the night.
Frequently asked questions:
Q: What happens when someone wants a portrait, gets their photo taken, but doesn’t see it on the table at the end of the night?
A: As hard as I try to complete the maximum number of portraits, sometimes it isn’t possible to get to everyone’s. If you were REALLY wanting one and went home without, my hope is that you’ll take my business card with you and send me a message—I am happy to paint your portrait and mail it to you after the event for a small fee.
Q: How many portraits can you paint at a wedding/event?
A: It always depends, but the typical amount is around 30-50 portraits during a 5 hour window of service.
Q: What materials do you use?
A: I use watercolor paints and 5x7” watercolor paper—the perfect size for slipping into a ready-made frame.
Q: What if I can’t decide between having a live wedding painting on canvas or watercolor guest portraits?
A: You can have both! My Twofold Package offers a live wedding painting of the ceremony plus 3-5 hours of guest portraits during the cocktail hour and reception.
